After more than 25 years of being founded Alexa.com, a service that provided traffic analysis and statistics of the most popular websites on the Internet has announced the cessation of its activities. Originally founded as an independent company, in 1996 was acquired by Amazon. On Wednesday, December 11, 2021, a final statement appears on its website without further public explanation of the reason for the end of the service.
Undoubtedly another Internet great that retires, leaving a legacy beyond a web statistics tracking tool. Alexa.com ranking was considered a sign of authority on the Internet, a scheme that defined the business scheme of many websites.
